Six hours, a Dallara LMP2 and a closing stage that turned everything upside down. David and Sander started in P9 and stood in P4 at the flag — just one second off the podium.
Watkins Glen is fast, flowing and unforgiving of the smallest mistake. Exactly the kind of track where consistency and the right decisions at the right moment make the difference. David and Sander shared the LMP2 and kept it clean and tight for a long time.
Building patiently
From P9 the first part of the race was about keeping rhythm and staying out of trouble. No rushed moves, just constant pressure. The pace was there, and with clean stints and smooth swaps the car stayed in sight of the places up front.
Rain in the closing stage
In the final four laps the rain blew everything open. That is when strategy counts twice — and Sander’s sharp pit-stop strategy paid off perfectly. Where others hesitated or guessed wrong, our timing was right. The result: a jump to fourth place in the very last phase.
One second off the podium
P4, and only one second away from P3. So close to a podium — just not enough time to take that last place, but a performance we look back on with a big smile. David and Sander showed that cool heads and a good pit call in the rain are exactly what make a race.
